…those who wish to emulate Jesus Christ do not become Christlike by simply taking on the appearance of Christianity, nor do they win the good fight by merely mouthing Christian slogans. Instead, they become Christlike by offering themselves to God “as living sacrifices” (Romans 12:1). Prayer, fasting, and sacrifice characterized the life of Christ. In like fashion, such spiritual disciplines must characterize the lives of those who sincerely desire to become Christlike. –

If you ever get a chance, Foster's Celebration of Discipline is a life changing book on the Christian disciplines.
Thanks for the tip. I've looked at it several times but never bought it. I'll have to add it to my list.
Right now I'm reading William Gurnall's The Christian in Complete Armour. I think you'd like it. Also, don't know if you keep up with Monergism but they recently sent me a list of "40 Recommended Books for your Library". I'll send it to you if you are interested/don't already have it, or it is probably posted somewhere on Monergism.com.
