Random Pictures

Just a little something to take up space and let everyone know I’m still around.

Ben - 2 years

Over the fields and through the woods to our new homestead...(Just joking. This is really a picture of Barrington Farm at Washington-On-the-Brazos State Park. Btw, I really think that Dogtrots need to come back into vogue. Very cool for extended family living.)

Bess - 4 years

Ben is all boy. He loves dirt.

The finished garden (so I can remember what it looks like when it is 100 degrees and everything has shriveled into nothingness).

And a few flower pictures...

Cool garden! Brandi and I had fun trying to ID what the plants were.

Thanks. It is a combo of green peppers, tomatoes, onions, basil, watermelon, and marigolds.

I can't wait to see pics of Brandi's garden once it sprouts up. I was thinking about her when she was planting it and wishing I could have come out and helped her plant.

We are praying for y'all.

Thanks, Dani. We appreciate your prayers!

About the garden, the plants are growing nicely. I'm a little nervous about all the wild birds around, but so far we haven't had any big issues. We have some small, green fruit already on the vine.

Our soil is, apparently, good soil, but just really raw and unworked. I think it's going to take a few years of composting to and stuff to get it to where it's really nice and fertile. Our neighbor down the street -- the older man who plowed our garden and who shreds our field for us -- has got a nice garden in his front yard. He's definitely a green thumb. He said it's taken him 15 years to get his soil "just the way I like it." I think he's a perfectionist, though. :-)

Oh, and about helping Brandi in the garden, y'all are welcome to come over any time -- even if it's just a night. The guys (and boys) could camp out in tents and the gals could stay inside. We've got plenty of room.
